The Zibane family from Umlazi has endured unimaginable distress following the sudden passing of Sifiso Zibane, who died in a car accident earlier this month. The family’s grief turned to shock when they discovered that the local funeral home had misplaced his body.
As they prepared for the funeral ceremonies, the family arrived at the funeral parlour to wash and dress Sifiso’s body, only to be met with the devastating news that staff couldn’t locate it. The ensuing hours were filled with confusion, anxiety, and desperation as the family waited for the funeral home to track down the body.
In an astonishing twist, it emerged that Sifiso’s body had been mistakenly transported to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, en route to Nigeria. The Zibane family faced further trauma as they fought to recover the body, making futile calls to the airline and eventually seeking assistance from the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The incident has left South Africans stunned and outraged, highlighting grave concerns about the funeral industry’s accountability and competence.
