A devastating incident of gender-based violence (GBV) has resulted in the loss of another life. This time, a man allegedly lost his life at the hands of his former partner, a woman.
According to Phalaborwa FM, Phumzile Thulisile, a young woman from Namakgale township outside Phalaborwa, got into a physical altercation with her ex-lover, Pardon Ntethelelo Mavimbela, outside a popular nightclub in Phalaborwa on Saturday, 22 December 2024.
Witnesses reported that the pair had a history of violent confrontations whenever they crossed paths, despite multiple protection orders being issued against Phumzile, which she allegedly violated.
On the fateful evening, Phumzile was overheard saying, “Tonight, we are going to die together.” Following the altercation, Mavimbela was advised by friends to leave the scene and return home to avoid further confrontation.
Tragically, Phumzile followed Mavimbela to his home, where she doused him and herself with petrol and set them both ablaze. Paramedics rushed both individuals to the hospital for medical attention.
Sadly, Mavimbela succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, 26 December 2024. Phumzile remains in critical condition in the ICU.
I wonder when will this GBV endðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
GBV, shall end the moment authorities revisit some of the Acts in the constitution, as of now I fear to tell that it won’t end sham
