A 43-year-old police sergeant stationed in Limpopo appears in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court this morning following yesterday’s arrest in connection with Insurance Fraud cases.
The sergeant was taken into custody after an extensive investigation led by Captain Keshi Mabunda revealed alleged fraudulent activities involving life, accidental, and funeral policy benefits from various banks and insurance companies in South Africa.
The investigation indicates that the sergeant began these activities in 2019, targeting vulnerable individuals, including those with disabilities or mental challenges, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Police sergeant allegedly took out policies on behalf of the victims, naming herself as the beneficiary. Currently, the sergeant is linked to six insurance-related murders, with evidence suggesting a minimum of R10 million in ill-gotten gains.
