
Limpopo police officers made a clean sweep at the 10th National Excellence Awards ceremony, held at the Durban International Convention Centre, KwaZulu-Natal, on 26 January 2025.
The event, themed “Saluting those who shine in the line of duty,” recognised the team’s exceptional performance with numerous prestigious awards.
Awards and Recognition:
Sergeant NS Mabunda was named Man of the Year for resolving multiple cases, recovering stolen vehicles, and tracing suspects, Brigadier ML Matseba was awarded first runner-up for Senior Administration Manager of the Year, achieving 100% compliance in performance assessments, Brigadier V Masingi received first runner-up recognition for Senior Operational Manager of the Year, boosting informer numbers and solving high-profile murders, Brigadier MHJ Van Staden was awarded first runner-up for Senior Operational Manager of the Year: Policing, leading compliance inspections and strengthening stolen vehicle recoveries and Colonel RS Sekgota’s leadership at Mahwelereng Police Station earned first runner-up for Station of the Year, with exceptional results in reducing contact and property crimes.
Other Notable Awards Include:
Colonel Manasoe and Team Sekhukhune Crime Tracking Team, first runner-up for Operations Team of the Year, Colonel MM Mampa and Team, second runner-up for Crime Intelligence Team of the Year, Captain G Van Der Merwe and Team, first runner-up for Team of the Year, Warrant Officer J Baloyi, second runner-up for Forensic Services employee of the year and Reservist Sergeant MM Tshabalala, second runner-up for Reservist of the Year.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed pride in the team’s performance, thanking stakeholders and the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Ms Violet Mathye, for their support.
