Limpopo’s Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala, has mobilized police resources to track down suspects who bombed two ATMs at a Levubu shop in the early hours of 3 October 2024.
Security personnel were caught off guard by an explosion at the market, and upon approaching the scene, they were met with gunfire. The police were promptly alerted and rushed to the scene, where they found the two blasted ATMs. Unfortunately, the suspects had already escaped.
The police are investigating and have opened a case of malicious damage to property. It’s unclear if any cash was stolen. To aid in the investigation, anyone with information should contact Warrant Officer Khazamula Chabalala at 071 389 5923.
Similar incidents have occurred in the region, such as the ATM bombing at a Thohoyandou filling station. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is working to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent future incidents.
