Ward 22 Councillor Pemly Rikhotso and Greater Giyani Municipal Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha joined grieving families and community members at a mass funeral held today for two young men who tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident at Shikhumba village.
The accident occurred on Saturday night, 29 March 2025, when a bakkie carrying the victims crashed at a small bridge near Gandla Supermarket. Sadly, two young men died at the scene, while three others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.
Councillor Rikhotso and Mayor Zitha expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families and called for improved road safety measures in the area.
The community remains in mourning as they come to terms with the tragic loss.
