
Maleboho police were informed about drowning and a crocodile attack at Mogalakwena river in Arrie Village on the 07 February 2025 at about 09:00.
On arrival at the scene, members of the community of Arrie Village, pointed the lifeless body of an african male person who was still in the river.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was last seen fishing on the same spot, and there is a possibility that he was attacked by crocodiles. Provincial Search and Rescue Team was summoned to the scene and the body was retrieved from the river.
The body was found with some parts missing ( no hands and stomach) . He was certified dead by members of emergency medical personnel services (EMS). A case of Inquest was registered for further investigation. The deceased was identified as Phuthi Oscar Serumula residing at Arrie Village in Maleboho.
Residents are sternly warned to avoid swimming, fishing or crossing in rivers infested with crocodiles, as it’s a risk and to curb more people dying.
