Several suspects have been arrested in connection with these crimes, which is a huge relief for motorists and passengers who have been targeted in the province, especially on highways.
The modus operandi of the suspects involved damaging vehicles with spikes, resulting in punctures, and then attacking and robbing the motorists of their valuables once they came to a standstill. In one tragic incident, a victim was shot and killed at the scene.
The accused appeared in Bela Bela Magistrate Court on November 15, 2024, and their cases have been postponed to December 9, 2024, for bail applications.
