Orscarin Selina Hlungwani, who is accused of murdering her husband, Soyaphi Moses Hlungwani (64), also known as Shaka, will return to the Namakgale Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 27 March 2025.
The case, which has been ongoing since August 2024, has faced delays as the prosecution awaited testimony from two key witnesses and a social worker. The prosecutor has confirmed that the autopsy results are in, indicating that the state is building its case against Hlungwani.
According to information received by Limpopo Current Affairs, the incident occurred on 27 August 2024, at the couple’s home in Malungane village. A heated altercation reportedly escalated into a physical fight, leaving Shaka bruised and lying on the floor. The following day, at 1 PM, the family reported the incident to Namakgale police, leading to Hlungwani’s arrest.
She was granted bail of R1,000 on 10 September 2024 and has since made multiple court appearances. During the most recent hearing, the magistrate informed the family that the investigation was still ongoing, with additional evidence being gathered. The trial will continue as the court hears testimony from the remaining witnesses.
