People living near Soshanguve Crossing in Tshwane Municipality are very worried about a sewage leak that has been there for more than two years. The leak is causing a bad smell and making life difficult for students and the community.
Thabang, a student who lives nearby, said, “The smell is unbearable. It has been like this for years, and it makes it hard for us to study.”
Karabo, who lives in Block LKK, said, “This problem is not only affecting us but also the children who pass by every day to go to school. It is not acceptable.”
A well-known business owner from Soshanguve, who did not want to be named, said the leak is a serious health risk. “The bad smell can make people sick, especially the children who have to go to school near it,” they said.
A City of Tshwane worker said, “We are working on it, but we are still waiting for the mayor to provide what is needed. He promised that the issue will be fixed before June.”
Many residents are frustrated because the problem has not been solved for so long. They want the government to take action quickly.
