
Giyani police are appealing for public assistance in locating Matonciri (Jira) Man’ombe, who is wanted in connection with a brutal murder and three counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). The incident occurred on Sunday, 23 February 2025, at approximately 20:20 in Homu 14B Village, Giyani.
According to police reports, the suspect arrived at the residence of his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend and waited at the gate. When the victim came out to give him water as requested, he suddenly attacked her with a beer bottle. She attempted to escape into the house, but he pursued her and stabbed her multiple times, leading to her tragic death.
In a desperate attempt to intervene, the victim’s mother, younger sibling, and a neighbor confronted the attacker but were also stabbed and injured with a broken bottle. The suspect then fled the scene, leaving behind devastation and grief.
Emergency services and police responded swiftly, but the young woman was declared dead at the scene. The three injured victims were rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical care.
Authorities have not yet released the deceased’s identity as investigations continue. However, police emphasize that Matonciri (Jira) Man’ombe’s capture is crucial to ensuring justice for the victims.
Law enforcement urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward immediately.
