A house robbery turned deadly in the early hours of Monday, 24 February 2025, when four armed suspects stormed a home and fatally shot a man before fleeing the scene in Manghena village, Malamulele.
According to police reports, a couple was asleep when four unknown African males forcefully broke into their home at around 03:00. Two of the intruders were armed with pistols and immediately demanded cash from the couple. Despite handing over a small amount of money, the suspects insisted that the victims had more, likely due to their ownership of a spaza shop.
When the couple failed to provide additional money, one of the armed men shot the husband in the chest. He collapsed and died on the spot. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
Emergency Medical Services were called, but the victim was declared dead at the scene. He has since been identified as Miringo Mabasa by his wife.
A case of house robbery and murder has been opened for investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Detective Warrant Officer Hlengani Chauke at 082 319 9857.
