
Five male suspects, aged between 24 and 36, are set to appear in the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 January 2025 to face charges of common robbery and attempted murder. The suspects were apprehended by the Ritavi police between 1 to 3 January 2025 at Lusaka village.
According to reports, the first victim was attacked at a tavern, where an altercation led to a physical fight. The suspects used various objects, including a knife and iron steel bar, to assault the victim, who sustained multiple injuries and was hospitalised.
In a separate incident on 8 December 2024, the same suspects allegedly assaulted a 34-year-old man from Lusaka on his way home from work. The victim was physically attacked, assaulted with a bottle, and robbed of his cellphone and cash. He was taken to the hospital and managed to identify the five suspects.
The Ritavi police have been proactive in addressing crime in the area, as seen in their efforts to launch investigations and apprehend suspects. The suspects will face justice for their alleged crimes, and the community can hope for a safer environment.
