Man arrested for allegedly chopping his his 87-year-old mother to death in Sebora village

A 40-year-old man has been arrested by members of Mashashane Police Station, outside Polokwane in the Capricorn District, following the gruesome murder of his 87-year-old mother in Sebora Village. The chilling discovery was made on Saturday, 28 June 2025, at approximately 15:00.
According to reports, police were responding to a missing person complaint from a concerned neighbour who had not seen the elderly woman for more than two days. Upon arriving at her residence, officers were met with a horrific scene — the dismembered body parts of the victim were found stored in plastic buckets.
Several objects allegedly used during the commission of the crime were also recovered from the scene.
The suspect, who is the deceased’s son, was arrested on the spot after failing to provide a credible explanation for the gruesome act.
The motive behind this brutal and senseless killing is currently under police investigation. The suspect is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 June 2025, facing a charge of murder.
