Limpopo police remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicating corruption within the force. This was reaffirmed by the sentencing of Sergeant Nierush Seanego (39), formerly of Mahwelereng Visible Policing, to 15 years of direct imprisonment.
On Monday, 17 March 2025, the Mokopane Regional Court found Seanego guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances and defeating the ends of justice.
The conviction stems from an incident on 7 February 2023, when the complainant was stopped near Nyl Plaza by a marked police vehicle and a silver Toyota Yaris. Seanego and his accomplices forcibly removed the victim from their vehicle, searched them, and stole R20,000 before fleeing.
A rigorous investigation by the Limpopo Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Polokwane Tactical Response Team, uncovered substantial evidence linking Seanego to the crime. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) issued a warrant for his arrest, leading to his capture on 4 March 2024 at his Mahwelereng home.
