
In a major law enforcement breakthrough, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the efforts of the Mopani Tracking Team and Seshego Police following the fatal shooting of a notorious criminal. The suspect, aged 36, had been evading capture for several years and was wanted in connection with over 17 violent crimes committed across the region.
On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, an intelligence-led operation was launched in Molejie Ga-Moeti village, Seshego, by a joint task force of the Mopani District Highway Patrol, Mopani Tracking Team, Seshego police, and other SAPS units. The operation targeted the suspect, who had been linked to a series of brutal crimes, including murder, attempted murder, carjacking, business robberies, and property damage in the Hlanganani policing area from 2022 to 2025.
As the police team arrived at a suspected hideout in Ga-Komape village, Moletji, the suspect immediately opened fire on officers. In a swift response, the officers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect. Despite the tragic outcome, the police operation successfully brought an end to the long-running manhunt.
Authorities confirmed that a firearm and a motor vehicle, both linked to the suspect, were seized during the operation. The suspect had been connected to several serious criminal activities, including:
Three counts of murder, Four counts of attempted murder, Carjacking, Eight business robberies, and Malicious damage to property.
An inquest case has been opened at the Seshego police station, and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has been notified and visited the scene for further investigation.
