Nkhensani Hospital has come under renewed scrutiny as complaints about its service delivery continue to grow. Patients and families from Greater Giyani and surrounding areas have expressed frustration at long waiting times, insufficient medical care, and the overall lack of professionalism in the facility’s operations.
Many have accused the hospital of failing to meet even the most basic standards of healthcare, leaving residents in distress. Patients report spending hours in overcrowded waiting areas, only to receive delayed or inadequate assistance.
A patient from residing in Section E shared their experience stating that he had arrived at the hospital at 7am with a sick family member, and by 2 p.m they weren’t still helped. “This happens all the time here. It feels like no one cares.” Says Mudau
The hospital’s persistent issues appear to be tied to a lack of resources and personnel. Reports from staff suggest that the facility operates under immense strain, with too few doctors and nurses available to meet the growing demand for healthcare services.
“My mother tragically lost her life under the care of its nurses and doctors.” Says Agreement Mkhari
“I urgently appeal to the Limpopo MEC for Health and the Premier to visit the hospital as soon as possible to address the appalling conditions. Swift intervention is necessary to prevent the community from taking drastic measures, such as a strike, to demand better healthcare services.” He added
The casualty reception area has become a focal point of complaints. Over New Year’s, it was overwhelmed with patients, many of whom suffered injuries related to alcohol-fueled celebrations. However, the chaos there reflects a deeper, ongoing problem that extends beyond festive periods.
Residents argue that complaints about the hospital’s poor service delivery have been ignored for years. Despite numerous promises of improvements, little has changed, eroding public trust in the institution.
With public dissatisfaction reaching a breaking point, many are demanding that the hospital’s management and provincial health authorities address the some issues that may be the root cause of this poor service delivery.
“This hospital is supposed to be a beacon of hope for our community. We need answers, and we need to see change. Lives depend on it. Or they must hire specialists We can’t travel far distances because our doctors are not available.” Added Agreement.
The community awaits an official response from Nkhensani Hospital, hoping it will address these issues and chart a clear path toward better service delivery.
