In a daring attempt to cross into South Africa from Zimbabwe, a heavily overloaded Mercedes-Benz ML was intercepted by the Border Management Authority (BMA) near the Beitbridge border post.
The vehicle, carrying a staggering 120 individuals, was found to be in clear violation of several border security regulations, including transporting undocumented passengers.
Upon inspection, it became apparent that the passengers, mostly from Zimbabwe, lacked the necessary documentation to enter South Africa. The vehicle, originally designed to carry a smaller number of passengers, had been modified to accommodate more individuals, raising concerns about safety and legality.
The BMA’s swift action led to the detention and subsequent repatriation of the 120 individuals back to Zimbabwe.
