In a swift response to a string of stolen cellphones during a music festival in Polokwane, the police apprehended two suspects, aged 26 and 30, for possession of suspected stolen property. The festival, held at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 21 December 2024, took an unfortunate turn when several revelers reported their cellphones stolen.
Members of the Public Order Policing (POPS) unit sprang into action, launching an immediate manhunt for the suspects. Their efforts paid off when they found the 26-year-old suspect with two stolen cellphones and his 30-year-old accomplice with twelve stolen cellphones.
Fortunately, some of the victims were able to identify and recover their stolen cellphones at the local police station.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate court soon, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
