
Deputy Minister of Police, Ms. Polly Boshielo, spearheaded the Safer Festive Season Operational Inspection Tour in Limpopo on Sunday, December 22, 2024. The tour aimed to assess the province’s operational readiness for the festive season campaign.
Ms. Boshielo was joined by key officials, including Polokwane Municipality MMC for Community Services, Cllr Joosuf Pemma, and Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. The tour began with a parade at the University of Limpopo, featuring SAPS, Home Affairs, National, and Provincial Traffic Police.
Activities during the tour included roadblocks, spaza shop compliance checks, community engagement, and a walk-about at Paledi Mall. Lieutenant General Lineo Nkhuoa emphasized the importance of ensuring a secure and enjoyable holiday for all citizens.
Deputy Minister Boshielo urged officials to serve with pride, emphasizing responsible use of their tools and upholding the Constitution. She also stressed the need to hold criminals accountable.
The operations resulted in numerous arrests and confiscations, including 15 suspects for crimes like assault and fraud. Thirteen fines were issued for Liquor Act violations, and six illegal immigrants were arrested.
