Robber found with unlicensed firearms will appear before Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Monday

A 34-year-old suspect is set to appear at the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 25, 2024, for possession of two unlicensed firearms allegedly used in house robberies in Giyani and Thohoyandou.
The suspect was arrested on Friday, November 22, during a sting operation by the Mopani District Tracking Team and Crime Prevention members.
The arrest came after two other suspects were taken into custody on Thursday, November 21, in connection with the same house robberies. Investigations revealed that the firearms used in the crimes were owned by the suspects’ friend, leading to the discovery and confiscation of two unlicensed firearms.
The suspect will face charges of unlawful possession of firearms alongside the two house robbery suspects. The investigation into the house robberies is ongoing.
