
Lucky Chauke, a 48-year-old man from Ha Matsa village, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a minor child. The incident occurred on December 5, 2021, and was reported to the police by the victim’s mother two days later.
According to the court, Chauke gave the victim R20 to keep quiet about the incident. However, when the mother found out, she immediately reported it to the police. The investigation was led by Warrant Officer Samuel Thovhakale, who ensured that Chauke was brought to justice.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, welcomed the sentence and praised Warrant Officer Thovhakale for his excellent work. General Hadebe emphasized that this sentence sends a strong message that the courts will not tolerate brutality against children.
