A 59-year-old businessman from Makhuva village was tragically shot and killed on Tuesday night, November 19, 2024, in Mbaula village, Giyani. The police were alerted by community members around 19:00 and found a truck loaded with sand parked in the middle of the road. Inside the truck, they discovered the lifeless body of the victim, who had multiple gunshot wounds.
It’s reported that the deceased had received a call from an anonymous customer ordering river sand. He then collected the sand and was en route to deliver it when two African males, pretending to be the customers, stopped him and opened fire, resulting in his death at the scene. Fortunately, the passenger escaped with a leg injury and is receiving medical treatment.
The police have launched a manhunt for the unknown assailants and are urging anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Colonel Jan Mbalati at 082 565 6491.
