Limpopo police have made a significant breakthrough in combating illegal explosives! Two foreign nationals, aged 35 and 37, were arrested on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in the Makhado policing area, Vhembe District, for possessing illegal explosives worth a whopping R2 million.
Members of the Vhembe Flying Squad conducted a tactical stop and search on a vehicle traveling along the N1 South, just outside Makhado town, heading towards Polokwane. Inside the boot, they found four bags containing Super Power 90 Gel Tubes, which the Explosives Unit confirmed were commercial explosives.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested, and the vehicle was confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation. The police are now working to trace the origin and intended destination of the explosives.
The suspects are set to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, November 21, 2024, on charges of possession of illegal explosives.
