
The Modimolle Regional Court has sentenced 43-year-old Elias Sello Cry Ngoepe to a combined 20 years of direct imprisonment for two separate rape cases in Vaalwater, Waterberg District.
DNA evidence linked Ngoepe to the crimes, leading to his arrest on 29 May 2023 while he was already in custody for other rape cases in Rustenburg Prison.
Charge 1 (6 March 2017): Ngoepe broke into an 18-year-old woman’s house, threatened her with a knife, and raped her. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Charge 2 (29 July 2019): He attacked a 30-year-old woman outside her home after she returned from a tavern, holding her at knifepoint before raping her. He received an 8-year sentence.
Ngoepe was sentenced on 31 March 2025. The conviction was secured through diligent investigative work led by Detective Warrant Officer Ciska Kruger of the Modimolle FCS Unit.
