A suspect, believed to be responsible for the burning of a house owned by Jamani Seale in Mbaula village, has allegedly returned to the area seeking revenge. The suspect, Nyongholoza, reportedly threatened local resident Innocent Ngoveni, known as Cheeseboy Vafanas, on the night of the incident.
In response, Cheeseboy called for help, prompting a swift reaction from the community, which led to Nyongholoza fleeing the scene with four other men.
This incident follows an earlier event reported on September 4, when a blaze completely destroyed the home of Tshepo Jamani Seale in Mbaula. Nyongholoza was identified as the alleged perpetrator after footprints found at the scene helped community members trace his whereabouts. The following night, community members launched a search, eventually locating the suspect in Julesburg Ka-Hovheni.
After being apprehended, Nyongholoza became the target of mob justice. The situation quickly escalated as he was physically assaulted by a group of residents, including Cheeseboy Vafanas and Lovemore Tivani. Nyongholoza was later transported to the hospital under police guard, where he opened a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
In the aftermath of the mob justice, one of the individuals implicated in the assault was arrested, but now, Nyongholoza’s return to Mbaula has reignited tensions. It is feared that this will lead to further violence as he seeks to exact revenge for the previous attack. Community members are on high alert, and local authorities are urging calm while investigating the ongoing threats of retaliation.
