
The Groblersdal Regional Court heard that the abuse began in 2001 when the victim was just 11 years old. The stepfather threatened to kill her, waited for her to return from school, and then sexually assaulted her. He also forced her to drop out of school and become his wife.
The victim suffered extreme trauma, including physical assaults and being locked up. She became pregnant at 15 and was taken back to her hometown by the accused. The case was reported to the police in 2022, and after a thorough investigation, the accused was linked to the crime through DNA evidence and arrested.
He was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. Sergeant Lethuba Tsheola played a crucial role in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
