Vatswatsi Primary School in Mahale village, Selwane, Phalaborwa, recently held its annual general meeting for parents. Principal Mathebula NS encouraged parents to take ownership of the school and maintain its cleanliness.
The majority of parents enthusiastically supported the initiative, pledging to clean the school regularly, including a weekly commitment to tidy up classrooms every Friday.
On 31 January 2025, the parents made good on their promise, joining forces with community members and the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) team, who extended their working hours to support the effort.
Principal Mathebula expressed his excitement about the parents’ initiative, saying, “As a school, we’re thrilled to see parents taking an active role in maintaining our facilities. We hope this momentum continues and that parents will also encourage their children to prioritise their homeworks.”
