A 53-year-old Zimbabwean suspect, believed to be a key supplier of explosives to Cash-in-Transit heist kingpins, was arrested on 17 January 2025, at the Beitbridge Port of Entry.
The suspect was attempting to enter South Africa when police searched a bus coming from Zimbabwe and found a suspicious luggage on top of the fuel tank. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that the luggage contained explosives.
The suspect has since appeared in court, and this arrest is a significant milestone in disrupting the supply chain of explosives to these heist kingpins. Great job by the authorities in keeping our communities safe!
