A 38-year-old man, Malose Jimmy Masosa, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the brutal murder of his 37-year-old wife, Mokgaetjie Lydia Tshabi. The incident occurred on 11 May 2024, after a heated argument erupted between the couple outside Tseu tavern in Mapela Danisani.
The court heard that the deceased’s brother witnessed the argument and followed them as they headed home. However, along the way, Masosa stabbed his wife multiple times with a sharp object. Despite his brother’s attempts to intervene, Masosa chased him away and dragged his wife’s body to a nearby household, where he left her dead.
Masosa handed himself over to the police the following day and was charged with murder. After a thorough investigation led by Detective Sergeant Lesiba Sekutu, Masosa was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Mokopane Regional Court on 16 January 2025.
