
Orscarin Selina Hlungwani, accused of murdering her husband, appeared in court yesterday, 15 January 2025, at the Namakgale Magistrate’s Court. The case has been postponed to 24 February 2025, to allow for further investigations. The prosecution is still waiting for two key witnesses and a social worker to testify.
It’s worth noting that the prosecutor has confirmed that the autopsy results are in, which suggests that the prosecution is building its case against Hlungwani. The case has been ongoing since August 2024, when Hlungwani was arrested in connection with her husband’s murder at their home in Malungane village.
She was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband, Soyaphi Moses Hlungwani (64) also known as Shaka, at Malungane village in Namakgale.
Limpopo Current Affairs was reliably informed that on 27 August 2024, the the couple had an altercation that led to a physical fight, leaving Shaka bruised and lying on the floor. The family reported the incident to Namakgale police the next day at 1 pm and she was arrested.
Selina was granted bail of R1000 on 10 September 2024 and has since made multiple court appearances. During her most recent court hearing, the magistrate informed the family that the investigation is ongoing, with additional evidence still being gathered. The court is awaiting testimony from two key witnesses before proceeding further.
