A former employee of Mugg & Bean Gateway has come forward, alleging unfair treatment and exploitation during their time at the restaurant. The employee claimed to have endured low wages, long working hours, and insufficient compensation despite their dedication.
The individual described their struggles, saying.
“Mugg & Bean restaurant played with me, the whole December including holidays. Here is my payslip. I work at Mugg & Bean Gateway from last year December until now. I was patient with this money. Sometimes it was R2,700. December, I was off. I even worked double from 07:00-23:00 at night. Money—that’s my salary. I can send you some payslips; maybe this one is better.”
Adding to the concerns, another individual commented on the alleged toxic work culture, saying:
“Sawubona, I’d like to comment about the Mugg & Bean Gateway. Eveything about that place is toxic, even the working environment, management, and salary. Most of the times are oppressed. After that my job was terminated .” supplied picture based on comment.
These allegations highlight ongoing concerns about working conditions in the hospitality industry, sparking calls for better labor practices. Mugg & Bean has yet to address these claims.
