The communities of Moletjie Marowe, Moletjana, Maribana, Sekuruwe, Makgalong, and Kolopo are struggling with a severely deteriorated road, D2656, which connects these villages to R521.
The road’s poor condition renders it impassable, severely disrupting daily life and hindering residents from accessing work and schools. Furthermore, the excessive water accumulation on the road poses a significant threat to lives.
On Friday afternoon, a family of five narrowly escaped a tragic fate when their vehicle was swept away by the floodwaters. Despite over a decade of pleas for assistance, the government has seemingly turned a deaf ear to the community’s concerns.
The communities are consistently overlooked for tar road budgets and instead offered superficial solutions like regravelling and Dikgerekgere Wednesday initiatives.
