This event marked a significant milestone, as it was the first National Day of Prayer to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of churches. Prior to the pandemic, the event was held annually.
The Motsepe Foundation’s goal for the National Day of Prayer is to bring South Africans together to pray for unity, the poor, the unemployed, and the marginalized. The event aims to promote a sense of unity and shared purpose among people of different races, languages, and faiths.
