Shayhieda Dollie (49) from Gelvandale, Gqeberha, faced the New Brighton Magistrate Court today on charges of murder and conspiracy to murder her 22-year-old son, Moegamat Thaafir Dollie.
The alleged premeditated murder occurred on October 28, 2024. Dollie, an unemployed woman, had been experiencing difficulties with her son due to his drug addiction and behavioral issues at home. Seeking a solution, she consulted with individuals who suggested a “permanent solution.”
Dollie allegedly hired two hitmen, “Shaun” and “Oompie,” from Johannesburg, initially agreeing to pay R80,000, later increased to R380,000. The plan unfolded when Dollie told her son he had a job interview, and the perpetrators picked him up, leading to his murder.
The primary motive was allegedly to claim R2 million in life insurance, with some funds intended to pay the hitmen.
