Police in Lulekani are investigating a distressing domestic-related incident that claimed two lives in the early hours of Saturday, 04 October 2025, at about 05:00.
According to the police report, officers responded to a shooting incident at Lulekani Newstands and, upon arrival, discovered a male victim lying unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Paramedics were called to the scene and certified the victim dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly shot the victim after accusing him of being romantically involved with his wife. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly went to his parental home in Kurhula, where he turned the gun on himself and died instantly.
Police recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the commission of the crime, along with several spent cartridges at the scene.
Further investigations established that the suspect and his wife had been experiencing domestic problems prior to the incident. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending further investigation and family notification.
Police have opened cases of murder and an inquest, and investigations are continuing.
