Businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe appeared at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court today for a formal bail application amid serious allegations linking him to the country’s underworld.
The state alleges Molefe plays a central role in an illicit drug syndicate and is directly connected to the high-profile murders of DJs Sumbody and Vintos. The two entertainers were gunned down in separate incidents that shocked the nation and raised concerns about escalating violence in the entertainment industry.
During proceedings, State Prosecutor Khethokwakhe Ngubane strongly opposed Molefe’s release, labelling him a “dangerous individual with no regard for human life.” Ngubane told the court that investigators had obtained cellphone records and WhatsApp messages pointing to Molefe allegedly arranging payments to known hitmen.
“These were not random acts. There is clear evidence suggesting premeditation and coordination,” said Ngubane.
Molefe, who appeared calm and dressed in designer clothes, has denied all allegations.
The court is expected to rule on his bail application later this week.
