Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has issued a stern warning to “construction mafias” and contractors who delay projects, stating that cost escalations, poor performance, and extortion will no longer be tolerated in the province.
Speaking at the handover of the newly refurbished Outpatient and Clinical Support Departments at Maphutha Malatjie Hospital in Phalaborwa, Ramathuba highlighted the challenges faced by the project, including COVID-19 disruptions and community protests.
Ramathuba’s warning comes as part of a broader effort to address the issues plaguing the construction industry in Limpopo. As the premier noted, delays and cost escalations can have serious consequences for the province’s development and the well-being of its citizens.
